Art Expedition

We just finish our art expedition. The whole school walked around to different classes to see what they've done for this term. A favourite piece that i saw was from Team 5. My favourite art pieces that was represented team 5 was from room 3. I like how they painted fruits by doing dots. 1 dot at a time to create a painting. I like all the colours that was used to create those paintings. I like this painting of a flamingo from room 3. I like the pink and white that they used to create it. I also like this art from team 4. There theme was pacific patterns. I like the patterns that they choose.

Then my 3rd favourite art work was from room 2. Although room 2 is my class i like the subject that we did for the art expedition. The art that room 2 did is we had to make a sculpture. then we painted the sculpture and made a sign. Our theme was protesting. Everyone made a sign and had to write down what they are protesting for. My one was protesting for the turtles. Since some turtles are going extinct i choose that to protest for my sculpture.

These were my top favourite art projects. But the other classes did a good job as well.

My sculpture explanation

This is my finish version of my sculpture. The colours that i used to paint my sculpture is black, red, orange, yellow. I choose these colours cause there colourful except for the black. But the black is there to represent the darkness in the world then the other colours represent the light shining over the darkness. My sculpture is protesting for the turtles. The sign says save our turtles. I choose this protest cause i love turtles and i hate to see them get extinct. Hope you like my finish version of my painting.

Art sculpture

Today i have finished my statue for this term. This term theme was art and painting. So room 2's artist was Alberto Giacometti. He was famous for sculpting these skinny rough statues. For this i had to create my own sculpture and do a sign. So on the sign is says what were protesting for. My sign said save the turtles, others did something like save our ocean or black lives matter. Hope you like my sculpture

Narrative writing

Today i have finished are narrative writing. I was given an introduction to a story. Then i had to write the other half of the story.

It was a man who had a black jacket and I couldn't see his face. I thought he was wearing a mask until when he kept getting closer he didn't have a face. I was so frightened that I couldn't open my mouth. It kept getting closer and closer. I tried running but I couldn't move. I tried screaming my mouth won’t open. I closed my eyes and I can feel this tingly feeling on my body. I thought it was the man touching me gently. I opened my eyes and no one was there ‘it was just the wind’ i thought. I looked behind me and I see a black figure right behind me.

I opened my mouth for a scream. I opened my eyes and I was laying on my bed. This “dream” of mine frightened me. The most random noise will scare me. From silent to loud. I went to the living room with my dog and watched some anime. ‘Haikyuu will cheer me up’ I said. I heard some creepy crackly noises coming from the kitchen. The night was coming. So I went to my room. I still felt the tingly feeling on my skin. I woke up at the middle of the night at 2:58 am. I heard a weird noise coming from outside. I put on my jacket and went to go check. Nothing was there so I walked back to my door. Then I see a black figure standing at my door. I kept thinking I was in a dream. So I slapped myself in the face and I actually felt the slap. Then i thought ‘this ain’t a dream this is real’. With my eyes wide open I started running into the forest. I found a dead end at this ridge. Then I see the black figure coming closer and closer. ‘I can't believe i'm living my dream,’ I said. I closed my eyes like in the dream and felt this tingly feeling again. I was too scared to open my eyes but I opened it. No one was there. I was too scared to look behind me cause you know how that ended. So I just ran for it back to my house. Once I made it to my house no one was blocking the door. So I walked inside and ran to my room. I locked the doors and drank some coffee. ‘This is one hell of a day’ I said. Then I went to sleep. The end.

The night at garrison castle

Fog hung over the Castle of Evil like a shroud covering a dead body.  The castle was surrounded by a moat of deep water and beyond that a forest as black as night. A cart loaded with beefy packages came shaking from the forest. The drawbridge lowered and the cart was consumed up by an ancient stone archway. Dark creatures rose in a swarm from the towers of the castle as a scream came from the tallest opening. All Together NZ | Kingdom minded – more radical than many think

Immersion Assembly Reflection

It was Monday on the first day of term 4 and we had immersion assembly. Once we got to the hall we were welcomed by Mr Burt. Then the first video came up by team 1. There video is they get a famous painting then they act out the painting.

Team 2's video was about using different kind of ways to draw the teachers faces. from cut shapes to digital shapes. Then they showed what each person are doing for there art project.

Then it was Team 3's presentation. There one was they were doing this colourful art on this big piece of paper. They didn't use there hands to make the colourful background. They actually used these spraying thing to colour the big piece of paper.

After that video team 4's video came on. they didn't prepare for a video. but they recorded the google meet they had as there presentation. They did drawings and showed them to us. Mr Goodwin's drawing was about his dog.

My favourite Presentation was by Team 5. i liked all the customs. they presentation was about a museum of these artefacts. I Liked how they told the story behind the artefacts. My favourite custom was by Ms Tele'a. The story behind it was a Samoan warrior. And the warrior was a women.

And Mr Burt showed us a new school logo for Pt England. There gonna change the bird with another bird. The new bird is called a Kuaka or a god wit. these birds travel from Alaska to New Zealand. When they arrive to Pt England they are skinny cause they keep on flying until they arrive at New Zealand. The Kuaka or God Wit is a navigator so it can know where its going. And the Kuaka was the first design on the Pt England school uniform but they changed it cause people were not agreeing to the bird being on the uniform. But now the kuaka is gonna be the new logo for the school but i don't know when they will release the new uniform.

Hope you enjoy my reflection.

We got to ask some question while she plays as T. Then she put us into groups. there were 5 groups. my groups profile was jack. T's best mate. We had to find a way to help support T through whats hes going through.

The legend of Kava Tonga

This is the legend of Kava Tonga. So there was this couple they only had one daughter. The couple and the daughter were growing a tree named Kava. Then these men and a king arrived only to look for some food. The leader of the men was looking for some food then he found the couple. The father Fefanga told the leader of the men that the island was barren which means it can’t grow food. But the father gladly said that he will prepare a meal for the king. But when he went to collect the food he saw the king sleeping on the only tree that can produce food. He couldn’t disturb the king so he was hopeless. But then the dad sacrificed his daughter for the king. The king didn’t want to eat the daughter so he said “don’t disturb the girls grave” then when the old couple came back they saw two plants one on her feet the other on her head.

after watching a video about the legend it was heart breaking but a wonderful ending.

Ko e founga hono ma’u’e Tonga a hono hingoā

Ok so this is the story of how Tonga got its name. The story writer was David Riley. Maui came to Samoan and found this fisherman his name was tongataumāta'u. The fisherman offered many great hooks to Maui. But Maui chosed this old hook surrounded with spider webs. Maui said "How could i pay you" and the fisherman said "When you fish up a island name it after me" Time passed and Maui fished up a island. Then he named it Tonga just like he promised.

The Tongan Tapa Cloths/Ngatu

Malo e lelei this is a fact about the Tongan culture.

Why is the Tongan tapa cloth valued? The reason why the Tongan tapa cloth is valued is because it's one of Tongan's most important possessions. The Tongan tapa cloth was passed down from generation to generation. Before money was introduced to the Tongan people the tapa cloth was similar to the value of money in the olden days. And the men plant trees which the ngatu or tapa cloths are made out of.

The amazing planetarium

  1. What is a planetarium? A planetarium is a theatre built primarily for presenting educational and entertaining shows about astronomy.

  2. Why was the room shaped like a circle?

  3. Why was the teacher at the planetarium? So she or he can teach the people at the planetarium and show them around.

  4. Why is it usually hard to see stars at night in a city? Cause the lights from the city send a glow into the sky. And it makes like a fog and the fog makes the stars look dim.

  5. What are stars made of? Stars are huge celestial bodies made mostly of hydrogen and helium that produce light and heat from the churning nuclear forges inside their cores.

  6. Would the surface of Mars be wet or dry? It will be dry cause nasa showed that there's no water on mars

  7. What did the second planet look like? The planet had a red surface. And it has big craters on the surface.

  8. Did Sophie see real stars and planets?  No cause the stars are from the projector and it's probably a video.

  9. Why did Sophie want her cousin to go to the planetarium? So sophie cousin can experience what it's like being there.

a world of difference assembly writing

Today we went to the hall for assembly. The teachers were gonna show a video or just act it out to show what we will be doing for term 3. The first team to go up was team 1. There one was about what different things other schools do compared to our school. Like what they eat and what we eat and see the differences. Then the second team went up which was team 2. There one was about exploring so they did a Dora based video. Then it was team 3. there one was based on the amazing race. They made a video of them exploring the world. Then it was team 4's turn. There one was researching the food that they were eating and seeing where it came from. Then it was team 5's turn. Our one is based on myths and legends. The team 5 teachers did a performance of sina and the eel. The story was great. There were some sad bits and some good ones. The ending was heartwarming for me. anzac writing

It was September 1945 the war was finally over. I stood there honouring my fallen brothers on the battlefield. It was the battle of Crete 4 years before the war ended. The battle was dramatic; there were mixed troops of New Zealand, British, Australian and Greek forces. We desperately tried to fight of German airborne assault. But we had to evacuate to Egypt where most of our allied forces were. More than 1700 British, Commonwealth and Greek soldiers were killed and 15,000 captured during the Battle for Crete. There were 671 New Zealanders among the dead, and 2180 Kiwi prisoners of war. More than 6000 Germans were killed or wounded. 100th ANZAC Day Commemoration | Whakatāne New Zealand
